Life is far easier when you can deal with everything using your mobile phone. It’s very cool that we can take care of everything so easily now.
I am inherently lazy, so if I need to find a computer somewhere to do something that should only take 5 minutes, it ain’t gonna happen. I usually remember I need to do something when I’m in the middle of a walk, a movie, or making dinner.
If I don’t do it straight away I will forget. But with my iPhone right there I can just deal with it while the pasta cooks.
The trouble with cancelling subscriptions on your iPhone, is that for some subscription providers, that would be entirely too easy. Also, some subscription providers require that you subscribe and cancel directly through their website, and not through the app store. But we can deal with those subscriptions in a moment.
For now, we need to know how to cancel subscriptions under our apple ID.
Anything that you’ve purchased or subscribed to through the app store or iTunes should be listed under your apple ID in your phone.
You’re able to manage those subscriptions in the settings on your phone.
To cancel a subscription on your iPhone, take the following steps:
- Firstly, tap the ‘settings’ icon on your iPhone.
- Once in your settings, tap on your name.
- Next, select the iTunes & App Store option.
- You’ll see your Apple ID listed at the top. Select it. You may need to sign in at this point, using your password or touch ID.
- You will now see your ‘subscriptions’. Select this option and then choose which subscription you wish to cancel or change.
- The subscription might offer you some alternative offers, but right now we want to cancel. So select the ‘cancel’ option at the bottom. Once you’ve cancelled, your subscription should end on conclusion of the billing cycle.
If you need to delete a subscription and you can’t access it through your settings, you can still delete subscriptions using your iPhone.
Most subscription providers have mobile friendly websites now, so while it is decidedly fiddlier, it isn’t impossible to cancel a subscription directly through the website via your mobile phone.
Using your iPhone web browser, simply go to the website of the service provider you wish to cancel and log in to your account directly. Go to my article entitled ‘Just let me cancel it’ and follow the advice there on how to cancel a sub directly through the website.
If you already have your email set up on your iPhone, this process is even simpler. Most subscription providers will send you through an email to confirm the cancellation of your subscription. This way, you can confirm your cancellation through your email straight away without ever having to go to a computer.
Easy!
Once you’ve cancelled or updated your subscriptions you can pop quickly into TrackMySubs and update the details straightaway.
How’s that for handy?
Now, if you haven’t got TrackMySubs set up yet, now’s the time. You can have up to 10 subscriptions listed for free.
When you delete a subscription, it’s good to know when the last payment is going to be debited from your account. In TrackMySubs you can set up an alert to let you know.
With so many subs coming and going, it’s easy to keep track.
Having TrackMySubs on hand means you can update the details as your subscriptions evolve.
